Learning to Fall - Philip Simmons

life is the story of a pernennial soul fastened to a dying animal.
yeats

life is not a problem but a mystery
and letting go is the first lesson of the mystery
I let go of the rope - I let go of the control of my life - no longer where I wanted to go.
letting go we open ourselves to Grace.
to the further shore where there is the eternal
weopen ourselves to wonder , the threshold of eternal life.

falling is a birth right
we all fall into Death
only letting go can we gain freedom

Burn me up on the dome,
Pile the sticks high
And let the ashes float
Down this little Buddha creek
Like I remember in my long-ago youth
Once in the Himalayas
Watching the smoking ruins of a pyre
Make their way toward the Ganges
