Hair Today
This morning I opened eyes
To see the hairs on my arm,
Stood up bright and shinning
By that busy old fool, unruly sun,
Like a thick field of tall grass,
Flared and tangled, conveying
A motion or a music in stillness,
Like a frozen fire or
The frantic lines of a dense composition
One bright line of one arm
Highlighted in a passing moment
Dominating all the plains
In a way I had never known
One piece,dense and complicated
Beautiful and beyond intimate comprehension
Declaring it impossible to know myself
And yet He knows every single one.
