Nous Sommes Arrivee

Now that I have shown you that half smile
every woman knows, you gave me there;
The smile turned up among the Lillies
where He tells us not to worry,
Now that I have sown the Kiss in stone into action
From the Hand of God,
Taken down from the Gates
and mixed with pain
For a man to Think on
Over late-night crepes and
morning coffee poured over steamed milk,
Thinking it a dream to rush down
the long, high-arched halls of Grangtua
To find the one delicate face smaller than our own
peering down upon her thin Veener needle work,
As though, having taken of Alice's pills,
Left me a moment under the downturned smile
Sorry I could not make more for us of the Lights and Love,
So that when we go to our place of acres
by a stream for chittering grandchildren
To see through our shrunken eyes,
We might always have Paris.
