Eon
A pterodactyl soared along the shore,
The clouds, thick and dark, spanned the sky,
While the sea tossed and roared as if in harmony
And only a thin line of light from the morning sun
Separated the tumults
On the horizon to the south
A grayish curtain cooled the earth
Where volcanoes would be raging
I walked, a living anachronism
To greet my string-haired mermaid by the sea
So that where man still waited to crawl from the waters,
Might wander you and I.
