Psalm 40
Who says He works no miracles?
See me stand
see me walk
hear me talk;
At the top of that deep cavernous yawn,
The rope holding me in a lover's embrace
Jerked, strained, screeched and popped,
Loosing suddenly like the day I abandoned her
And I fell away into the region ruled by dark.
Thrice I passed through Newton's distance,
Coward to be a cripple, flying from fear,
A forever crying for God,
Landing hard on the rock - He heard -
Into arms that never loose us.
Out of the pit He lifted;
The son my savior,
The Rescue man, helicopterer, healer,
Sister become pain-killer
To make the journey through the long night
And across the sea,
The tender there my wife,
Those who care pushing back the dark,
Their presence putting aside the pain,
Like the one who wrote the verse these walls soaked in,
Like He who cancels out my sin,
Exchanging His song to make art,
For those who Love the Lord.
See me stand
see me walk
hear me talk;
Out of the pit He lifted;
The son my savior,
The Rescue man, helicopterer, healer,
Sister become pain-killer
To make the journey through the long night
And across the sea,
The tender there my wife,
Those who care pushing back the dark,
Their presence putting aside the pain,
Like the one who wrote the verse these walls soaked in,
Like He who cancels out my sin,
Exchanging His song to make art,
For those who Love the Lord.
